Tintagel Beach on the North Cornwall coast, and home the stunning Tintagel Castle. The small cove is just below Tintagel Castle and is access down a steep hill. Follow the coastal path down to the beach, which is completely covered at high tide.

This part of the coast is steeped in Arthurian legend and mythology and Merlin’s Cave, ia legendary cave associated with the mythical figure of Merlin the magician.

Merlins Cave

Merlin’s Cave is a large sea cave that is accessible during low tide, when the waters recede and reveal a cavernous entrance. The cave is located underneath Tintagel Castle, which sits on the cliffs overlooking the beach. According to Arthurian legend, Merlin was said to have been born in a cave beneath Tintagel Castle and used the cave as a place of retreat and contemplation.

Folklore lovers young and old will enjoy a visit to Merlins Cave. The cave has been a source of inspiration for numerous myths, legends, and literary works throughout history, and it continues to capture the imaginations of visitors to this day.

It’s important to note that access to the cave is dependent on tides, and it can be dangerous to enter the cave during high tide or rough sea conditions. It’s always recommended to check local tide times and follow safety guidelines when visiting Tintagel Beach and Merlin’s Cave.
