Visit Broughton Beach
Sandy Broughton Beach on the Gower Peninsular is a popular surfing and camping spot on the South Wales coast. Located at the northern edge of Rhossili Bay, offering peace, space, and stunning views. It’s not as well-known as Rhossili or Oxwich, so it stays quieter, even in peak season.
Thanks to its west-facing position, Broughton Beach is a perfect sunset-watching spot. The low light across the sands and water is breathtaking, especially in summer.
Much of the beach disappears at high tide. At low tide, however, it becomes enormous, exposing wet sands and rock pools. Always check the tide times if you plan to explore far.
The beach is fringed by rolling sand dunes and salt marshes, rich in biodiversity. It feels wild and natural – great for photographers, birdwatchers, and nature fans.
Broughton Bay is also a popular surf spot, and generally less busy than other local spots.
There are no shops, toilets, or lifeguards on the beach. Bring water, snacks, sun protection, and anything else you might need, especially if you’re coming with dogs or kids.
If you’re looking for a wild beach day without crowds, amusements, or commercialisation, Broughton beach is ideal. It’s perfect for those who want to escape into nature and enjoy the unspoiled Gower coast.
Broughton beach is open to dogs all year, with no seasonal restrictions. There’s loads of space for off-lead exploring, digging in the sand, and running along the shoreline.
