Visit Tor Bay
Tor Bay in Swansea is tucked away at the end of Oxwich bay on stunning coastline of the Gower Peninsula.
Getting to this hidden gem is part of the adventure. Take a wander through the woods of Nicholaston Burrows, or start from the village near the community hall. Either way, you’re in for a treat.
When you get to Tor Bay beach, you’ll find a wonderful sandy beach that’s perfect for all kinds of activities. It’s a great place for families, as there’s plenty of space for children to play and explore.
The gentle waves make it suitable for swimming, and many people enjoy sunbathing on the soft sand. If you’re into water sports, kayaking and paddleboarding are also popular activities in the bay.
The Great Tor headland separates the two beaches, but at (very) low tide, you can walk round to Oxwich Bay.
Great Tor is known for its stunning views and the unique experience of climbing right above the beach, which adds to the adventure. Whether you’re a seasoned climber or just starting out, Great Tor provides a wonderful opportunity to enjoy rock climbing in a beautiful coastal setting.
Before you head home, take a short stroll along the cliff path. The view overlooking Oxwich is worth every step. It’s the kind of vista that’ll have you pulling out your phone for a quick snap (or twenty).
Tor Bay is dog-friendly! Dogs are allowed on the beach all year round, making it a great destination for pet owners who want to enjoy a day by the sea with their furry friends.
If you’re in need of amenities or parking, head to nearby Penmaen village.
