Visit Pobbles Bay
A peaceful coastal hideaway, tucked between rolling dunes and rugged limestone cliffs, Pobbles Beach is a small, sheltered cove that feels delightfully off the beaten track. It’s perfect for those seeking calm, scenic surroundings away from the crowds.
You can’t drive right up to the beach – getting there involves a scenic 20-minute walk from Southgate, weaving past Pennard Golf Club. Alternatively, walk from Parkmill via the valley route, but be mindful of the tide.
There are no lifeguards at Pobbles, and the currents can be strong. Always check tide times before setting out, and stay safe in the water, especially with children or pets.
When the tide is out, you can explore beyond Pobbles, wander east to the dramatic Three Cliffs Bay or west toward Tor Bay. Just make sure to time your walk carefully before the water returns.
There are no on-beach facilities. Don’t expect cafés, toilets, or lifeguards here. It’s a wild beach experience, so pack everything you need for your visit and head to Southgate village for amenities.
Walkers along the Gower Coast Path will come across Pobbles as a perfect pitstop or picnic spot. Whether you’re starting from Southgate or heading further west, it’s a scenic gem worth detouring to.
Whether you’re a casual stroller or a seasoned hiker, you’ll find rewarding walks here. Follow the coast path along clifftops, or venture through the dunes and Pennard Burrows to take in panoramic views.
Pobbles is like the quiet neighbour of the famous Three Cliffs Bay. It shares the same stunning scenery but offers a more peaceful, tucked-away feel, especially on busy summer days. The area around Pobbles is full of natural charm, from coastal wildflowers to seabirds overhead. It’s a dream spot for nature photography or simply enjoying the peaceful rhythms of the coast.
