Visit Downhill Strand Beach
Downhill Strand is a stunning sandy beach backed by rugged cliffs. A great place for a walk, or just to take in the scenery and natural beauty.
Game of Thrones fans will recognise this beach. Downhill Beach is used in the filming of Game of Thrones as Dragonstone.
Here you will find the unusual historical landmark, the Mussenden Temple on the edge of the cliff. Built in 1785, as an estate library, modeled after Rome’s Temple of Vesta. Run by the National Trust, it is free entry for members otherwise a small fee.
Walk along the beach eastwards and you will come to the Dunne Waterfall. You can see it cascading down the rocky mountain, however there is a fence between the beach and Sea Coast road.
