Duddon Sands just next to Haverigg on the beautiful Duddon Estuary estuary area is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). At low tide a wide stretch of sand appears, and is a popular location for kitesurfing.

Walkers can take Coastal routes along to Haverigg taking in the glorious landscape and wealth of wildlife. The tides can be dangerous and visitors are advised to stay on the paths available.
