Visit Tenby North Beach
Tenby North Beach is a sandy award winning beach on the South Pembrokeshire Coast with views over Carmathern Bay. Framed by dramatic cliffs and Victorian houses, and crowned by the famous Goscar Rock, Tenby North Beach is a coastal gem loved by both locals and visitors.
With its golden sands, turquoise waters, and the eye-catching Goscar Rock rising from the sand, North Beach is instantly recognisable and regularly appears in travel guides and postcards of Wales. A natural landmark that kids love to climb (with caution), and photographers love to capture. At low tide, you can walk right up to it.
A safe and family-friendly spot! The beach is sheltered, has lifeguards during the summer, and offers safe, gently sloping sands – perfect for families, paddling, and sandcastle building.
North Beach’s calm conditions make it a favourite for swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking, and even the occasional bodyboarder when waves roll in.
From the beach, you get a fantastic view of Tenby’s colourful harbour, especially at high tide when the boats float gently in the calm water. It’s a dream for photographers and romantics alike.
It’s a Suntrap – Especially in the Morning. Thanks to its east-facing position, North Beach gets morning sun and is sheltered from south-westerly winds, making it a warm spot even on breezy days.
The beach disappears significantly at high tide, so check tide times before planning a day out. At low tide, there’s plenty of space to spread out and walk the full length.
In peak season, you can hire beach huts or deckchairs, adding that classic seaside vibe. Perfect if you want to make a full day of it without lugging all your gear down.
Tenby North Beach is a postcard-perfect spot that’s both stunning and accessible. With family-friendly features, jaw-dropping views, and a relaxed seaside atmosphere, it’s no wonder it remains one of the most beloved beaches in South Pembrokeshire.
Dogs are restricted on the beach from 1 May – 30 September each year.
