Visit Towan Beach
Towan Beach is a beautiful unspoilt gently curving beach on the South Cornwall coast. This south east facing beach is within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Towan Beach is safe, sheltered, and dog-friendly year-round. It remains relatively uncrowded even during peak season. There are no facilities on the beach but you can stop in for snacks and drinks at the tearoom by the carpark. Then head down the narrow track to the beach.
Towan means “sand dune” in Cornish, and is found in many placenames in Cornwall, however there are no dunes at this beach. For instance, this beach has the same name as Towan Beach in Newquay.
The South West Coast Path backs the length of the beach, heading south will take you on a scenic walk to St Anthony Head.
The beach can be reached by taking the Ferry from St Mawes, or heading down the coast from Porthcaso. It is a bit out of the way, which is its charm. Having said that, it can still get busy on a hot summer day.
