Visit Gorran Haven
Gorran Haven Beach is a small, east-facing sandy beach, nestled in the heart of a charming fishing village. Near St Austell, on the South West Cornwall coast.
The beach itself is partially sheltered by a historic stone quay, creating ideal conditions for swimming and water activities. While there’s no lifeguard cover, the calm waters make it an excellent spot for families with children to enjoy the sea.
When the tide is out a huge sandy beach appears. On a sunny day it makes for a perfect spot.
For the more adventurous, why not try kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding? You can rent SUPs and kayaks right on the beach during the summer season. Fishing enthusiasts can join angling trips from the harbor or cast a line from the shore.
When you’re ready for a break from the sand and sea, the village offers everything you need. Treat yourself to delicious fish and chips, indulge in fresh cakes and Cornish pasties from the local shop, or explore the variety of eating places nearby. Public toilets and other amenities are conveniently located close to the beach.
Popular with holiday makers in the summer holidays, exploring the area, with it’s old-pilchard cellars and charming streets. There holiday cottages available to rent and are boat trips for sight seeing and fishing.
Gorran Haven is also an excellent starting point for scenic cliff walks. Don’t miss the chance to visit nearby Dodman Point with its Iron Age hillfort, or keep an eye out for seals and cormorants at the offshore Gwineas rocks. Lucky visitors might even spot dolphins in the area!
Getting to the beach is easy, with a large car park just 300 meters up the road. The beach itself is accessible for all, with the road sloping gently down to the sand.
