Downderry Beach

Visit Downderry Beach

Downderry large sand and shingle beach, popular with families, with rock pools exposed at low tide.

At low tide it is possible to walk all the way to Seaton across a mile long narrow stretch of sand but you need to check the tides – it can be very easy to get cut off if you are the wrong side of one the many rocky outcrops along the beach when the tide is rising.

Did you know>The wreck of ‘Gypsy’, the sister ship to the ‘Cutty Sark,’ is hidden under a kelp bed not far from the shore line waiting to be discovered for those into snorkeling
