Polgwidden Cove or Trebah Beach, located at Trebah Garden on the Helford River, is a charming and secluded spot that offers a unique blend of natural beauty and seaside fun.

The beach at the end of the subtropical 26-acre Trebah Gardens is Polgwidden Cove, This southeast facing, shingle beach is privately owned but is open to the public.

The beach itself is a sandy cove with clear waters, making it a picturesque place to relax. enjoy a variety of activities such as swimming, sunbathing, and exploring the rock pools. It’s a great spot for families, with plenty of space for children to play.

Swimmers should take care not to go to far out as there are strong currents from the river Helford.

The Boathouse Beach Café is located nearby and serves a selection of hot and cold drinks, snacks, and delicious ice cream from Roskilly’s, a local favorite. The café is open from March to October, weather permitting, providing a nice place to grab a bite while enjoying the views at the tables along the top of the beach.

Trebah Beach has historical significance as it was used as a D-Day embarkation point during World War II. On June 1, 1944, American troops embarked from this beach for Operation Overlord, marking it as a site of historical importance.

The South West Coast Path runs right along the beach front here, and walkers can stop and enjoy the views.

To access Trebah Beach, you typically need to enter Trebah Garden, which requires an admission fee. The garden is open year-round, and it offers a variety of events and activities for visitors of all ages.
