Visit Maenporth Beach
Maenporth Beach is situated just two miles from Falmouth, along the South West Coast Path. It is a sheltered cove with a cafe overlooking the beach with clear views across Falmouth Bay towards Pendennis Castle and the lighthouse on St Anthony Head.
The cafe (Life’s A Beach) right on the beach, provides refreshments and a place to rest. (They also have a beach wheelchair available)
The beach gently slopes into the sea, making it ideal for swimming and paddling.
Take your kayak or paddleboard with you. Maenporth is a popular location for various water activities, including kayaking, paddleboarding, and sailing.
The wreck of the Ben Asdale, a Scottish trawler that sank in 1978, can be explored at low tide.
Being just a couple of miles from Falmouth, it’s really accessible for both locals and tourists. Families love it because the beach has soft sand and shallow waters, making it a safe spot for kids to play.
You’ll often find families setting up for the day, building sandcastles, and exploring the rock pools. It’s a great place for kids to have fun, which definitely adds to the number of visitors during the peak season. The beach can get pretty crowded on hot, sunny days, if you’re planning to go during the height of summer.
The tide the goes out quite far, but will come back in quickly so always be aware.
The South West Coast path runs directly along this beach which can be reached easily from Falmouth bay.
There is a seasonal ban and dogs are not allowed on Maenporth Beach from July 1st to August 31st, between the hours of 10am and 6pm.
