Visit Gunwalloe Fishing Cove
Gunwalloe Fishing Cove is a west facing beach, at the southern end of Porthleven Beach, on the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall. It is one of Gunwalloes’ three beaches and is managed by the National Trust.
To get to Gunwalloe Fishing Cove, you’ll travel down a small single-track road about 100 meters long, where you’ll find a small car park with room for about 10 cars. While the parking is limited, it’s usually enough for visitors, especially since the beach is less crowded.
It’s known for its stunning scenery and tranquil atmosphere, making it a perfect spot for those looking to escape the busier tourist areas.
The beach itself is a mix of small pebbles and coarse sand, bordered by green-topped cliffs that create a picturesque setting. At low tide, the beach stretches for about a mile, allowing for long walks along the shore. The sea here is a beautiful aquamarine, with gentle rolling breakers that provide a calming sound.
This beach is also a popular surfing and bodyboarding spot.
Gunwalloe Fishing Cove is dog-friendly, making it a great place for pet owners to enjoy a day out with their furry friends. The beach is perfect for walking, especially during low tide when you can venture a few miles in a westerly direction. There are also two pillboxes from World War II that can be spotted along the beach, adding a touch of historical interest.
You can walk along the coastal path to reach the beach or park at the National Trust car park just a short distance away.
