Visit Loe Bar Beach

Loe Bar Beach is located about 2 miles southwest of Helston in Cornwall, on the on the Lizard Peninsular. It is a long sandy beach, with fantastic views, but dangerous to swim.

It’s a half-mile long sand and shingle bank that separates The Loe (Cornwall’s largest natural freshwater lake) from the sea, within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

It is situated on a treacherous part coastline and over the years many ships have sunk, making it a popular scuba diving destinantion.

Just keep in mind that there aren’t any facilities directly on the beach, so if you’re planning to spend some time there, it’s a good idea to bring your own snacks and drinks.

Did you Know? ‘The Loe Bar’ is the largest freshwater lake in Cornwall.

And at low tide, you’ll find a large area of sand between the lake and the bar, which is perfect for exploring.

If you’re into walking or cycling, Loe Bar is a great place to explore. You can access it via the South West Coast Path, which is a beautiful route that offers some amazing coastal views. There’s a small car park about a 15-minute walk away from the beach, so it’s pretty easy to get to.

If you’re a dog owner, you’ll be happy to know that dogs are allowed on the beach year-round! It’s a lovely spot for a walk.
