Tresilian Bay

Visit Tresilian Bay

Tresilian Bay is a secluded cove located on the Glamorgan coast of southeast Wales, between Llantwit Major and St Donats.

Tresilian House stands immediately behind the rocky beach with the lovely stone wall and steps that lead to the beach.

The beach is rocky and backed by spectacular limestone cliffs and rock formations that are overlooked by the coastal path. A wonderful view from sea if you are kayaking along this part of the coast.

There are lots of stories and local legend in this area.

Tresilian Bay takes its name from Prince Silian who is reputed to have kept court there in the 3rd and 4th centuries.

The cliffs at Tresilian Bay house several caves that can be explored at low tide. While some of these caves are natural formations, local lore suggests that many were expanded or modified to create secret tunnels used by smugglers and pirates.
