Visit Bracklesham Bay
Bracklesham Bay on the West Sussex Coast, is a sandy bay backed by shingle and a sea wall. The beach is perfect for a long walk and is a popular destination for surfers and wind surfers. Bracklesham Bay is also a great place for fossil hunting!
Bracklesham Bay is a well-known spot for fossil hunting, especially after storms. Look out for shark teeth, shells, and ancient marine life embedded in the soft clay cliffs and shoreline.
At low tide, large areas of wet sand and shallow water make it a great place for kids to explore, splash about, and hunt for crabs in rock pools.
The Bay is home to a couple of popular cafés – ideal for post-walk coffee or lunch with sea views. There’s also parking and public toilets close to the beach.
Facing southwest, the bay treats visitors to some seriously stunning sunsets. On clear evenings, the golden horizon over the Solent creates a picture-perfect backdrop for evening strolls.
It’s a hotspot for kitesurfing, paddleboarding, and windsurfing, thanks to its wide open waters and steady coastal breeze. Beginners can find nearby schools offering lessons too.
Unlike more commercialised beaches nearby, Bracklesham Bay keeps things peaceful and low-key. It’s perfect for those looking to avoid crowds and enjoy a slower seaside experience.
It’s a lovely starting point for scenic walks along the coast, with trails heading towards East Wittering or further towards Selsey, offering a mix of beach, countryside, and sea air.
On a clear day, you can spot the Isle of Wight across the water – perfect for some light coastal gazing or photography.
Dogs are welcome all year round, making it a fantastic location for dog-walkers. With its open space and pebbly-sandy mix, your pup will love every moment.
