Yaverland Bay

Visit Yaverland Bay Beach

Yaverland Beach is located just a stone’s throw from Sandown on the Isle of Wight and is well known for its long, sandy shoreline. It’s perfect for families, especially when the tide goes out, revealing a wide expanse of sand that’s great for building sandcastles or just lounging in the sun.

The beach runs to all the way to the foot of the chalk cliffs of Culver Down and if you are interested in fossil hunting, you’ll love it here. Yaverland beach is known for its dinosaur remains!

The beach is also home to the Yaverland Sailing and Yacht Club, right on the beachfront. There’s plenty to do. It’s a popular spot for water sports like windsurfing and kitesurfing, and if you fancy a swim, there are designated swimming areas, though keep in mind there aren’t any lifeguards.

It’s best to check the tide times before you go, as the beach can shrink quite a bit at high tide.

Dogs are allowed on the beach all year round to the left of the car park, making it a great spot for dog owners to enjoy a day out with their furry friends. However, they are not allowed on the rest of the beach from May 1 to September 30.Look out for the signs!
