Visit Yarmouth beach
Yarmouth Beach is a little seafront spot on the Isle of Wight, and the closest beach to the ferry terminal in Yarmouth. It’s just a short walk from the ferry port, making it very convenient for visitors travelling to the Isle of Wight.
When you arrive at the Yarmouth ferry port, you’ll find Yarmouth Beach just a short walk away. It’s a small beach made up of mixed sand and shingle, which can get quite narrow at high tide. Despite its size, it has a lovely atmosphere and is perfect for a quick visit after your ferry ride.
Just keep an eye on the tide, as the beach can get quite a bit smaller when the water comes in.
Yarmouth Beach is next to the historic Yarmouth Pier, which is notable for being the last remaining wooden pier in the UK. There is a waterfront cafe here with oustside seating and great views.
Yarmouth Pier is a good spot for fishing, where you can catch various species like bass, mackerel, and cod. You can purchase a fishing permit from the Harbour Office.
Yarmouth itself is a historic town with a rich maritime heritage, with its quaint cobbled streets, local pubs, and restaurants, its a lovely place to spend the afternoon.
If you’re doing a bit of sightseeing, you’ll definitely want to check out Yarmouth Castle, which is just a short walk away. A beautifully restored 16th-century artillery fortress with an exhibition on local shipwrecks and a picnic area. It’s a fascinating place with a lot of stories to tell!
A short walk west (along High St) you will find Yarmouth Green and seafront garden, with benches to rest on and lovely views of the the Solent.
