Visit Half Moon Bay
Half Moon Bay in the seaside village of Heysham just South of Morecambe on the Lancashire Coast.
The beach, when the tide is out a huge expanse of sand appears, and the remains of the old lighthouse and ship wrecks become exposed. For refreshments there is a cafe on the beach which is open for breakfast, lunch, and afternoon tea.
History lovers can visit the 11 century stone graves at St Patrick Church. (These are on the cover of the Black Sabbath CD, The Best of Black Sabbath! 2002) Heysham is one of three sites in Britain and Ireland with a pre-Roman labyrinth carving; the others are at Tintagel, Cornwall and Hollywood, Co. Wicklow, Ireland.
For walkers take the coastal path leading to Morecambe for panoramic views and a great day out.
From nearby Heysham Port you can take regular ferries to the Isle of Man. The sculpture, called Ship, at Half Moon Bay, is visible to travellers coming and going from the ferry port at Heysham.
