Chalkwell Beach

Visit Chalkwell Beach

Chalkwell Beach is a small seafront in Essex, located right next to Chalkwell train station.

One of the highlights for families is the Chalkwell tidal paddling pool. This shallow pool is ideal for toddlers and young children to splash around safely. It’s free to use and provides hours of fun for the little ones. Just remember, the pool is influenced by the tides, so it’s a good idea to check tide times before your visit.

Lifeguard services are available during peak times, ensuring a safer environment for swimming and beach activities.

Keep an eye out for The Crow Stone – a granite obelisk erected in 1837 (marking the limit of the Port of London Authority’s jurisdiction) which is partially submerged at high tide.

When it’s time for a break, you’ll find grassy areas perfect for picnicking with a sea view. If you prefer dining out, there are several cafés, fish and chip shops, and ice cream kiosks nearby.

During the holiday season, dogs are not allowed on Chalkwell Beach between May 1st and September 30th.
