Aberystwith South Beach

Visit Aberystwith South Beach

Aberystwyth South Beach, also known as Traeth y De, is a scenic sand and shingle beach located in Ceredigion, Wales. Situated between Aberystwyth’s main harbour and the castle, it is quieter than the North Beach.

The southern end of the beach, near the harbour trap, is popular among surfers due to slightly larger waves.

The beach is patrolled by RNLI lifeguards during the summer months (July to September), providing a safe environment for families.

During the summer, boat trips depart from Aberystwyth Harbour, offering excursions into Cardigan Bay.

Dogs are allowed on the beach year-round in designated areas, but restrictions apply from May 1 to September 30 on the northern part of the beach.
