Visit Long Rock Beach
Long Rock Beach is part of a magnificent stretch of sandy coastline extending from West Chy-an-Dour in Penzance to Marazion. The beach is a mix of sand and shingle, with the western end being more pebbly. It’s about 2 miles long, and is rarely crowded – ideal for those seeking a quieter beach experience.
With breathtaking views of St Michael’s Mount, Mount’s Bay, and the surrounding cliffs, with a long flat section of the South West Coast Path, which also serves as a cycle path. On clear days, it’s perfect for watching sunsets over the bay.
Long Rock Beach is ideal for a range of activities, making it family-friendly. The water is shallow for a long way out, ensuring safety for swimming, especially for children. It’s also popular for windsurfing, paddleboarding, and bodyboarding, with conditions suitable for beginners and intermediates.
RNLI Lifeguards patrol the eastern end of the beach during the summer months (typically from May to September, though exact dates may vary), providing safety cover.
The South West Coast Path offers opportunities for walking and cycling, with great scenery along the coast.
The beach has good water quality, being listed under MCS (Marine Conservation Society) recommended beaches, ensuring a clean and safe environment for water activities.
Long Rock Beach is a haven for windsurfers and a safe spot for swimmers with shallow waters stretching far out. This beach is also perfect for dog owners as it is dog-friendly all year round. Come and enjoy the stunning views and refreshing sea breeze at Long Rock Beach.
Long Rock Beach is highly dog-friendly, on the western side of the level crossing, where dogs are allowed year-round. However, there’s a seasonal dog ban on the eastern side (from the level crossing towards Marazion) from 1st July to 31st August between 10am and 6pm.

Parking is available directly by the beach, with three large car parks nearby accommodating up to 600 cars, including spaces for disabled visitors. The car parks can fill up during peak season, especially in summer, so arriving early is recommended. Public toilets are available at the beach car park and nearby at The Station House car park closer to Marazion, enhancing visitor comfort.
