Visit Polridmouth Cove
Polridmouth Cove is just south of Menabilly on the Cornwall Coast is a charming secluded spot. At low tide, two distinct coves emerge, connected by sandy stretches.
This beach is off the beaten track and a great place to get away from the crowds. The South West Coast Path runs along this unspoilt beach which is only accessible by foot, or by boat.
Polridmouth Cove has a rich history, once serving as a hideout for smugglers who trafficked goods like brandy and tobacco. It is also famously linked to author Daphne du Maurier, who lived at the nearby Menabilly estate. The beach inspired the setting for her novel “Rebecca,”.
While there are no lifeguard services, the beach is considered relatively safe for swimming due to its sheltered nature. At low tide, the beach reveals more sandy areas and rock pools.
Polridmouth Beach is dog-friendly year-round, making it a popular choice for dog walkers.
