Visit Torre Abbey Sands
Torre Abbey Sands is one of the most accessible and central beaches on the English Riviera, lying beside the historic abbey and Torquay’s main promenade. Despite its urban setting, it offers a wide sandy shore and surprisingly relaxed atmosphere.
The beach is just west of Torquay Marina, you can enjoy the mild climate, amazing views, wide sandy beach and perfect swimming conditions. The sea is perfect for young families with lifeguards on duty through the holidays.
This award winning beach is great for a family day out, wheelchair friendly, and has easy access for disabled holidaymakers. The beach is close to the town centre and there are excellent facilities, including deckchairs for hire, and water sports enthusiasts can go sailing and windsurfing.
The abbey ruins, dating back to the 12th century, are clearly visible from the sand and add a unique historic backdrop. Gentle waves make the beach suitable for swimming, while the flat promenade encourages easy exploration along the seafront.
Take a walk along the promenade and explore Abbey Meadows and Gardens on the seafront is a great place for a picnic and to experience the history and heritage of the area visit the iconic Torr Abbey
