Sidmouth Town Beach

Visit Sidmouth Town Beach

Sidmouth Town Beach is a popular seaside destination in South Devon, on the South West Coast. Sidmouth is known as the gateway to the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.

This traditional seaside town with stunning Regency architecture, and hotels along the front of the promenade is perfect for a long walk and some fish & chips.

The beach was awarded Blue Flag Status for the first time in 2020 and is ideal for a day by the seaside. Have fun paddling in the sea, or relax sunbathing, with deckchair hire, beach huts, toilets and plenty of parking, everything is close by.

Dogs are restricted from the main town beach from May 1to September 30, however are allowed all year by the life boat station at the eastern end of the beach.

For watersports enthusiasts there are SUP’s and Kayaks available to hire. This is one of the best ways to explore this part of the stunning Jurassic Coast.

Sailing and fishing are also popular here. There is a slipway at the eastern end for launching boats.

You can walk along the busy part of the beach near the hotels or past the mouth of the River Sid and continue on to the South West Coast Path. Access to the eastern end of the beach (across the river Sid), is closed for public safety due to crumbling cliff red sandstone cliffs
