Coryton Cove

Visit Coryton Cove

Coryton Cove, once known as Gentleman’s Cove, is a charming, secluded beach located in Teignbridge, Devon. Situated at the southern end of Dawlish Town beach, this crescent-shaped cove offers visitors a tranquil escape from busier coastal areas.

The beach is a mix of sand and pebbles, nestled between the striking red cliffs of South Devon. Its sheltered position, protected by cliffs and a stone harbour wall, makes it an ideal spot for families seeking a peaceful seaside experience. Visitors can enjoy exploring rock pools or try their hand at fishing off the breakwater.

One of the cove’s unique features is the railway line running along the back of the beach. Trains, including occasional steam engines, pass through tunnels in the cliffs, adding a fascinating element to the scenic views. This proximity to the railway provides an interesting backdrop to your beach day, with trains passing by regularly.

Amenities at Coryton Cove include a kiosk café offering refreshments including coffee, cakes, and more. There is outdoor seating with beautiful views of the beach and cliffs. Next to the Kiosk, you’ll find a row of colorful beach huts adding to the cove’s charm.

Dogs are not permitted on the beach from April 1st to September 30th, in line with seasonal restrictions.
