Burgh Island

Visit Burgh Island

Burgh Island has a character all of its own. Located just across from Bigbury on Sea where visitors can take the ‘tractor bus’ which ferries passengers over the causeway at high tide.

Other than the natural beauty of the island itself the main attraction is the 1920s Art Deco Burgh Island Hotel.

Did you Know? Burgh Island has had a glamourous following since the 1920’s and is where Agatha Christie stayed and wrote several of her novels.

Burgh Island Dogs Policy

Dogs are allowed all year round on Burgh Island.

Leads are strongly advised on the tidal causeway, especially when busy. Access depends on the tide, so timing is everything.

Seals often lounge nearby, so good recall is essential – no unauthorised barking meetings.
