Blackpool Sands is a privately managed award winning family friendly beach in Start Bay, Devon. Despite the name ‘Sands’ it is a shingle beach in a sheltered crescent shape surrounded by green rolling fields and woodland.

The water quality is excellent with lifeguards on duty in July and August and swimmers can use the facilities, including showers before heading off to the The Venus Cafe, Takeaway and Shop for a light lunch and refreshments.

Blackpool Sands has something for everyone to enjoy. During the in the summer there are children’s activities including sand pits, a bathing raft, kayaks, snorkels and stand up paddle boards available for hire for activity filled days.

The car park is directly behind the beach providing easy access, suitable for wheel chairs, push chairs and buggys.

This beach is dog friendly in the Winter months and are restricted from March to November.
