Visit St Gabriels Mouth
St Gabriels Mouth on the Dorset coast is a rugged beach between Charmouth and Seatown. There is currently no direct access to the beach on foot due to a landslide in 2017.
The beach itself is part of the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its geological significance.
Walking the South West Coast Path near St Gabriel’s Mouth offers a scenic and challenging experience. The path includes a climb up Golden Cap, the highest cliff on the south coast of England. This section offers breathtaking panoramic views of the coastline and surrounding countryside.
You can head slightly inland from here and explore the ivy-covered ruins of the 13th-century St Gabriel’s Church. The ruins are said to have been built after a shipwrecked sailor prayed to the Angel Gabriel, adding a touch of local history to the walk.
If you are visiting this beach be aware and stay away from the bottom of the cliffs.
