Visit Pett Level Beach
Pett Level Beach is a lovely and peaceful spot located between Hastings and Rye in East Sussex. An ideal place to get away from the crowds and take long coastal walks.
The beach has a mix of sand and pebbles, and you’ll find wooden groynes that help keep the shoreline in place.
There is a cafe on the beachfront next to a charming wooden seaside church – St Nichola’s Church. Stop in for refreshments and a break from the beach.
At low tide, you can see fossilised tree stumps that are remnants of an ancient forest, and maybe spot the wreck of the HMS Anne, a 17th-century warship, which is visible during spring low tides.
Fossil hunting is popular here too, and you will often see people walking the beach, looking out for them.
While there aren’t many facilities at the beach, there are toilets nearby. Just keep in mind that there is no lifeguard service, so it’s important to be cautious if you decide to swim or try any watersports.
Pett Level beach is also dog-friendly, although dogs are restricted from May 1st to September 30th on part of the beach – west of the Church.
