Visit Birling Gap

Birling Gap Beach is a lovely pebble beach enclosed by the the Seven Sisters chalk cliffs on the East Sussex Coast. Birling Gap is easy to reach from the village of East Dean, and is not far from Beachy Head.

A popular destination for nature lovers and walkers, it can get busy during the holidays. By the steps leading down to the beach is a the car park and visitor centre with a cafe for refreshments, local information and activities.

Did you Know? Birling Gap, was home to J Dipperay, a famous smuggler. There is a plaque dedicated to him in East Dean Church.

The beach is popular with fossil hunters and tourists. Take a walk along the dramatic clifftops, with stunning views looking out across the English Channel.
