Visit Morecambe South Beach
Morecambe South beach in Lancashire, is a large flat pebble and sandy stretch between Battery Breakwater and Stone Jetty Breakwater. South Beach is a lovely stretch of sand and generally quieter than its northern counterpart, making it a perfect spot for those looking to relax and enjoy the scenery without the crowds.
During low tide, the beach widens significantly, allowing visitors to explore the expansive shoreline and enjoy activities like picnicking, kite flying, and beachcombing. While swimming is permitted, it’s essential to be cautious of the tides, as the area is known for its fast-moving waters and strong currents, and there are no lifeguards on duty.
The famous Grade II listed Art Deco Midlands Hotel overlooks the northern side of the beach, perfect for a weekend break or simply afternoon tea.
Dog-friendly during the winter but banned from South beach between 1st May and 30th September.
