Visit Brightlingsea Beach

Brightlingsea Beach on the River Colne in Essex is an area rich in maritime history, where traditional industries included fishing and shipbuilding.

Throughout the year, Brightlingsea hosts various sailing events, bringing an extra buzz of excitement to the area. Even if you’re not participating, watching the yachts glide across the water is a spectacle in itself.

There are all the seaside amenities and colourful beach huts along the beachfront, as well as nature trails to go and explore the area.

If you enjoy a good walk, the Western Promenade offers delightful strolls with stunning views. And don’t miss Bateman’s Tower, a historic local landmark that adds a touch of intrigue to the landscape.

Nature lovers will be happy to discover the nearby trails along an old railway line leading to Alresford Creek. It’s a fantastic way to explore the local flora and fauna.

For water enthusiasts, whether you’re keen on windsurfing, jet skiing, canoeing, or sailing, there’s an activity to suit every taste. If you prefer a more relaxed approach, why not take a dip in the sea or join one of the sailing barge trips for a leisurely tour of the local waters?

Did you Know? Brightlingsea is the only Cinque Port outside of Kent and Sussex, boasting a fascinating maritime history of fishing and shipbuilding.

Do keep in mind that if you’re planning to bring your four-legged friend, dogs are not allowed on the beach from May 1 to September 30, particularly around the paddling pool and the beaches to the east of it.
