Dartmouth Food Festival 2011 showcases the UK’s top chefs and food producers
Dartmouth Food Festival promises to be bigger and better than ever in 2011 as it showcases the skills of some of UK’s top celebrity chefs as well as 80 of Devon’s outstanding food and drink producers. (21 – 23 October)
Chefs and food writers such as Fergus Henderson, Mark Hix, Valentine Warner, Henry Dimbleby, Mitch Tonks, Jane Baxter, Matt Tebbutt and wine expert Susy Atkins will be appearing at the festival along with Michelin starred chefs, Alan Murchison, Will Holland, Chris Horridge and Darren Brown.
The Dartmouth Food Festival is now one of the UK’s leading free food and drink festivals and this year it will be offering a wide range of live cooking shows at three of the fesival’s demonstration kitchens. There will be a wine tasting of international wines as well as those from leading English wine producers and there will also be a special Saturday Morning Kitchen “ live” event with Matt Tebbutt and Susy Atkins.(October 22)
A special day dedicated to children on the 20 October will introduce youngsters to the pleasures and importance of eating good locally sourced food with tastings and hands on demos to teach them about the provenance and processes that go into producing the food that we eat.
The Chairman of the Dartmouth Food Festival David Jones from the Manna From Devon Cookery School says that the festival has grown over the years to a hugely popular event but there is still something to please everyone from the youngest child to the gourmet foodie; “ This year the festival has attracted an impressive range of Michelin starred chefs who will be showing of their incredible cooking skills, along with local Devon Chef and Festival Advocate Mitch Tonks and Riverford Organic’s Jane Baxter. There will be wine and food tastings and the chance to see up close many of the areas finest food and drink producers and its still all free at the point of entry.”
