Visit Sennen Cove
Sennen Cove (or Whitesand Bay) is a glorious golden sandy beach just north of Lands End in West Cornwall. The stunning crescent shaped beach and crystal blue waters, making it a top spot for surfing enthusiasts.
Sennen Cove’s large expanse of golden sand, perfect for sunbathing, building sandcastles, or swimming. It’s also renowned as Cornwall’s most westerly surfing spot, with consistent waves attracting surfers of all levels.
You can book lessons at the local surfing schools. RNLI Lifeguards are on duty from Easter to the end of October, ensuring safety, and it’s recommended to swim between the red and yellow flags on calmer days.
The South West Coast Path runs through Sennen Cove, providing access to stunning coastal walks. A popular, but longer, route is south to Porthgwarra, a 4.5-mile walk with dramatic cliff-top views, rock arches, and the chance to spot seals and dolphins.
Walk towards Land’s End, part of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), for incredible scenery, ideal for nature lovers and photographers.
Being one of the last places in Britain to witness the sunset each day, Sennen Cove offers spectacular views, especially during peak summer when sunsets occur around 9:30pm.
Note that dogs are banned from the beach from 15th May to 30th September between 10am and 6pm, but welcome outside these times, making it ideal for pet owners during the off-season. Public toilets are available near the beach car park and the harbour car park, ensuring convenience for visitors.
