Visit Portreath Beach
Portreath Beach is lovely sandy beach around the harbour, just north of Redruth. The beach is primarily sandy with some shingle below the shoreline, set in a steep valley. It is bounded by high cliffs on one side and a historic harbour on the other.
The beach is well-suited for families, with lifeguard services available during the summer months to ensure safety.
Portreath Beach is popular with surfers and bodyboarders, particularly for its surf break known as “The Vortex,” a powerful reef break off the harbour wall. The beach also has a tidal pool on the north side, providing a sheltered spot for swimming.
Did you Know? Portreath was once a busy harbour exporting copper.
Look out to sea towards Gull Rock, located a few hundred meters offshore, which is a haven for seabirds
Dogs are not allowed on the beach during the summertime.
