Visit Gurnards Head
Gurnard’s Head is one of the most striking coastal locations in West Cornwall. Located between Zennor and Pendeen, this rugged headland extends into the Atlantic and offers some of the most dramatic sea views in the region. The landscape feels wild, exposed and beautifully untouched.
Rather than a traditional sandy beach, Gurnard’s Head is known for its rocky shoreline, steep cliffs and hidden coves. Waves crash against the rocks below while seabirds circle overhead. The coastline changes constantly with the weather, creating a different experience every time you visit.
This dramatic coastline has the ruins of the Gurnards Head Mine, abundant wildlife, magical, streams trickling down to the bolder strewn beach.
The headland is also rich in history. Evidence of an ancient Iron Age cliff castle can still be found here, adding another layer of interest to the scenery. Looking inland, visitors can see Cornwall’s distinctive moorland landscape, while offshore views stretch across the Atlantic Ocean.
Many people visit Gurnard’s Head as part of a longer coastal walk. The South West Coast Path passes directly through the area, providing spectacular routes towards Zennor in one direction and Pendeen in the other. For photographers, walkers and anyone who enjoys dramatic coastal scenery, Gurnard’s Head is one of Cornwall’s most rewarding places to explore.
