Visit Penarth Beach
Penarth Beach, located in the seaside town of Penarth just south of Cardiff, is a relaxed destination known for its scenic beauty and family-friendly atmosphere.
It is a lovely pebble beach with some sand exposed at low tide.
If you are walking on the beach it’s essential to check tide times before heading out. The beach’s tidal range is significant, and the incoming tide can quickly cover large areas of sand, potentially leaving visitors scrambling to return to safety. Being aware of the tide schedule ensures a safer and more enjoyable experience.
The nearby pier has been beautifully restored and features a café, gallery, and small cinema, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy the views. If you are visiting on a sunny day, buy an ice cream and stroll down the pier, or stop for some fish and chips.
If you head south down the seafront you will get to where the dinosaur footprints. Details and a location map, are available for free from Penarth’s RNLI shop.
Dogs are banned from Penarth Beach during the summer months, specifically from May 1 to September 30. However, outside of this period, you can bring your furry friends to enjoy the beach.
