Visit Monknash Beach
Monknash Beach, also known as Cwm Nash, is a rural and relatively secluded beach in the Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales. It is part of the Glamorgan Heritage Coast and is recognised for its natural beauty, including sandy shores, rocky outcrops, and tidal pools.
The beach is backed by the Blaen y Cwm Nature Reserve. Walk to the beach from here – its really lovely – past the ruins of a small water-powered corn mill or follow the stream (Nash Brook).
Low tide is the best time for exploring the sandy areas and rock pools that emerge. It is particularly beautiful during this time, as it reveals hidden caves and rock formations, making it an excellent spot for exploration and photography.
While the beach is ideal for enjoying the scenery, swimming is not recommended due to strong currents. It can be dangerous.
Monknash Beach is a wonderful spot for a coastal walk.
Explore nearby attractions including the ruins of Monknash Abbey and walk the scenic coastal paths. Head into the village and stop in at the Plough and Harrow pub, (it dates back to 1383), a popular spot for refreshments after a day at the beach.
Dogs are allowed on Monknash Beach at any time throughout the year, unlike many other beaches in the area that have seasonal restrictions.
