Visit St Leonards on Sea
Marina St Leonards seaside resort just to the west of Hastings, in East Sussex. Overlooked by the iconic art deco Marine Court designed in 1936, the unspoilt shingle beach has a sandy stretch exposed at low tide.
Although not always as busy as Hastings, this beach is popular with families and day-trippers, with the town of Hastings to explore and plenty of beach holiday accommodation near the beachfront.
It is mostly shingle, with sand exposed at very low tides. The promenade has cafés, public toilets, and seating, making it suitable for relaxed visits. Bottle Alley, a mosaic-lined pedestrian underpass, connects St Leonards directly to Hastings and is a well-known local feature.
St Leonards has a strong creative community, with independent cafés, galleries, and small shops close to the seafront. This gives the area a different feel from other East Sussex beaches, combining traditional seaside space with modern culture.
This beach has safe bathing and has RNLI lifeguards during the holiday season. Watersports enthusiasts , can go windsurfing, kitesurfing and kayaking.
The beach is ideal for walking, light exercise, and quiet afternoons by the sea rather than busy beach days.
