If you’re at Saltdean Beach, visiting the Saltdean Lido is a must!
This stunning Art Deco swimming pool, which backs the beach, has been beautifully restored. The lido features a large main pool, a children’s paddling pool, and a lovely café where you can grab a bite to eat. It’s a great spot for families, with plenty of space to relax and enjoy the sun.
Originally opened in 1938 and designed by architect R.W.H. Jones, it is a Grade II listed building, celebrated for its elegant, streamlined design. After falling into disrepair, the lido underwent a significant renovation and reopened in 2017, thanks to community efforts and funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
This local landmark serves as a community hub, providing not just swimming facilities but also spaces for dining and events.
