Visit Cooden Beach
Cooden Beach is a quiet spot in the village of Bexhill-on-Sea, part of the scenic East Sussex coastline and makes a lovely stop on the South Coast Path. The beach is perfect for a long walk, taking in the fantastic ocean views and across Pevensey Bay.
You can walk towards Bexhill or head west for more secluded sections of shoreline.
Cooden Beach is less crowded than its neighbours in Brighton or Hastings, making it a great escape for those craving peace and quiet. The beach is mostly shingle, with patches of sand appearing at low tide.
Visit during low tide if you want to spot the sandy stretches and enjoy a wider shoreline for walking or playing. High tide dramatically reduces the space available on the beach.
It’s a great choice for a low-key family day out. While there are no arcades or big attractions, the simplicity appeals to those looking for a traditional beach experience – bring a bucket, spade, and a picnic!
Cooden Beach has its own small train station, just minutes from the seafront. It’s one of the few beaches on the south coast with such easy rail access – perfect for day-trippers.
The west-facing beach means you’re in for a treat if you stay until evening. The sunsets here are often golden and uninterrupted – perfect for a romantic stroll or photo opportunity.
Dogs are allowed on most of Cooden Beach year-round, but certain sections may have seasonal restrictions. It’s wise to check local signage to be sure.
