Visit Ainsdale Beach

Sandy Ainsdale Beach stretches along the Sefton coast between Southport and Formby. It is a spacious beach ideal for a long walk along the golden sands and through the vast dune system.

The unique system of sand dunes, part of the Ainsdale and Birkdale Sandhills Local Nature Reserve, which is home to diverse wildlife and plant species.

Ainsdale Beach is particularly popular for extreme kite sports, including kite buggying and landboarding with designated zones, making it a haven for enthusiasts.

The water is suitable for kitesurfing, with conditions often favorable for both beginners and experienced surfers. Lifeguards are on duty each year between Easter and September.

A café and bar at the end of Shore Road near the beach, offer snacks, meals, and ice cream.

The surrounding dunes and nature reserve provide opportunities for wildlife watching, including various bird species and unique flora.

Dog-friendly all year round, however there is a dog free area 200m either side of the main beach entrance and to the tide line.

Parking is £10 per day for cars at Ainsdale beach. £16 per day for horseboxes or minibuses. 50% off the above rates after 4pm.
