Find Dog Friendly Beaches in Anglesey

Walking your dog at the beach in Anglesey is a delightful experience filled with stunning scenery and plenty of space for exploration.

Your dog to run freely on expansive sandy stretches, especially at low tide when many beaches reveal even more space to play. Places like Traeth Lligwy and Red Wharf Bay provide vast areas for your dog to chase after balls or splash in the waves, ensuring they have a fantastic time.

Enjoy panoramic vistas while your dog explores the sandy shores or cools off in the calm waters. Many beaches, like Llanddona and Rhoscolyn, are also part of the Anglesey Coastal Path, allowing you to extend your walk and discover hidden coves and beautiful landscapes along the way.

Seasonal Restrictions

When the summer season arrives, from May 1st to September 30th, some of Anglesey’s beautiful beaches have a few rules for our furry friends. At Beaumaris Beach, dogs aren’t allowed on the right side of the beach when you’re facing the water. Over at Benllech Beach, the main area in front of the car park has restrictions, and dogs need to be on leads along the promenade.

Cemaes Bay has some restrictions on the main beach, but don’t worry! The smaller beach to the east is dog-friendly, and you just need to keep your pup on a lead along the promenade. At Llanddwyn Beach (Newborough), dogs can’t go west of the car park, but there’s plenty of space to the east where they can run around and have fun.

Llanddona Beach also has some restricted areas, so be sure to keep an eye out for signs. At Porth Dafarch, there are designated areas where dogs are not allowed, so make sure to check the signs when you visit. Finally, at Trearddur Bay, dogs can’t go on the eastern side of the beach, but the western side is perfect for them! Just like at Benllech, you’ll need to keep your dog on a lead along the promenade.

Dogs are banned from all Blue Flag beaches. Areas which ban dogs will normally be clearly sign posted. There are restrictions in place on main resort beaches between 1st May and 30th September
